Frequently asked questions

Which time zone does the countdown use?

Your device's local time zone. The countdown ends at midnight (00:00) of the target date where you are, which matches how event days are normally understood. If you need a different time zone, convert the date first.

What happens at midnight on the target date?

The countdown reaches zero. If you open the page after that moment, or pick a past date, the tool says so explicitly rather than showing a frozen zero.

Does it handle leap years?

Yes. Date arithmetic uses real calendar rules, and the same engine validates that the date exists, so impossible dates such as 2023-02-30 are rejected.

Does the countdown keep updating in the background?

The display refreshes while the page is open. Background tabs are throttled by browsers, but each refresh recomputes from your device clock, so the numbers are always accurate when you look at them.

Is my chosen date sent anywhere?

No. The countdown is computed entirely in your browser; the date never leaves your device.

About this tool

Picking a launch date, an exam day, a wedding, a product release or the next holiday? This free countdown tool shows exactly how much time is left to any date you choose — days, hours, minutes and seconds, refreshed twice a second so the seconds genuinely tick. The calculation is anchored to midnight (00:00) of the target date in your own time zone, which is how people naturally talk about event days, and it uses the same careful calendar handling as the rest of the site, including leap years. Pick a date in the past and the tool tells you so explicitly instead of showing a misleading zero. Everything runs locally in your browser: your dates are never uploaded, there is no account, and the page keeps working once loaded. Bookmark it for a deadline, a countdown to vacation, or the seconds until the weekend starts.
