How is the tip calculated?
Tip = bill × percentage / 100. Example: a 100 bill at 15% adds 15.00 of tip, making the total 115.00. The percentage you type is applied exactly as entered — no service charge is assumed on top.
How is the per-person share split?
The grand total (bill plus tip) is divided evenly by the number of people. Example: 115.00 split by 4 people is 28.75 each. The tool does not round per-person amounts up to whole units, so cents stay exact.
How much should I tip?
Customs vary: around 15–20% is common for table service in the US, 10–15% in much of Europe, and in some countries service is included and tipping is optional. The calculator does not judge — type whichever percentage fits the local custom.
